Walter Klepetko MD is the director of the Vienna International Center for Thoracic Oncology
Walter Klepetko is a Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the AKH and a renowned specialist for thoracic malignancies. He owns a special profile for extended thoracic surgical procedures, has a scientific impact factor of more than 700 and has participated in many guideline committees. Among multiple other academic achievements, he is a past president of the European Association of Cardio Thoracic Surgery and a former representative of Europe in the council of the American Association of Thoracic Surgeons. He has been a visiting Professor to leading academic institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Cleveland, Kopenhagen, Rome and Zurich. Besides his focus on thoracic malignancies, Professor Klepetko has built up one of the worldwide leading lung transplantation programs at the Medical University of Vienna
Professor Christoph C. Zielinski is currently head of the Vienna Cancer Centerdirector of the Central European Cancer Center
Christoph Zielinski (Member of the EXCEMED Scientific Committee) is Director of the Clinical Division of Oncology and Chairman of the Department of Medicine I at Medical University Vienna, Austria. He serves as Coordinator of the Center of Excellence for Clinical and Experimental Oncology at the University Hospital Vienna and is President of the Central European Cooperative Oncology Group (CECOG, www.cecog.org). Professor Zielinski completed his medical training at the University Hospital Vienna and began his career with a position as a research fellow at the Cancer Research Center at Tufts University, Boston, USA. His recent clinical research activities cover a wide range of cancer therapies, with particular focus on clinical trials, breast cancer research and treatment and development of targeted drugs.
Professor Zielinski is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
